Dentists don’t generally focus on the cost of the care they provide. However, as professionals, we realize that sometimes our patients put off dental procedures because the unexpected expense is not in their budget and they don’t have the funds to pay for the care. This is especially true for those with tooth pain that comes on suddenly and requires a crown and/or root canal procedure.
But, there are convenient ways to pay for dental care over time through CareCredit and other credit card agencies.
They provide promotional, no-interest financing if paid in full over time making it possible to take care of your teeth regardless of your finances. In fact, CareCredit is currently offering promotional financing that is interest-free if paid in full within 6, 12, 18 or 24 months.1 CareCredit is similar to a regular credit card but you use it to pay for out-of-pocket expenses not covered by medical insurance. It can be used for medical and dental expenses for your whole family, as well as the cost of caring for pets. Covered expenses besides dentistry include LASIK and vision care, cosmetic and dermatology procedures, veterinary, hearing care and other specialties.2 The provider of the service does have to be in the CareCredit network of 200,000 enrolled providers nationwide. To find out which providers are members of the CareCredit network, go to the CareCredit website and access the “Find a Location” link.3 CareCredit is also accepted at retailers such as Walmart, Sam’s Club and RiteAid Pharmacy.
With the CareCredit card interest-free promotional offer you do have to charge $200 or more and make minimum monthly payments. If you make those payments on-time, paying the full amount due by the end of the promotional period, you will not be charged any interest. However, if you aren’t able to make the monthly payments you will incur interest charges, so be sure to thoroughly read the information on the website and contact the CareCredit customer service agents if you have questions.
